Moose Hunts

Unit 16B:This area open to residents and non-residents, and you will also have a chance at a black bear! Weight limit: 100 lbs pp, plus weapon.

Resident: $3,500.00 per person - $750.00 extra per moose
Non-resident: $5,500.00 per person - $1000.00 extra per moose

Unit 17B: "The Ultimate Trophy Moose Hunt”!
This hunt has our highest success rate for trophy moose. 7 day minimum hunt recommended; party of 2 or more. 
Weight limit: 100 lbs pp, plus weapon.

Please note...

Non-resident hunters are required to have a guide or be accompanied by an Alaskan relative over 19 years of age within the second degree of kindred when hunting goat, Dall Sheep or Grizzly bear. Non-resident moose and caribou hunters are also required to view videos titled “Field Care of Big Game” and “Is This Moose Legal”, for hunts in some units in Alaska. We do drop hunts in these units. The video is available from Alaska Department of Fish and Game. If you have booked a moose or caribou hunt, please view the video.

Booking / cancellation policy

Hunts booked a year or more in advance are required to pay a $1,000 non-refundable booking fee. If booked within a year of the hunt, a 50% deposit is required.

Alaska West Air does not accept credit cards for hunts.

Hunts cancelled 180 days or more from the start date will be refunded the amount of the deposit less the $1,000 booking fee. Hunts cancelled 179 days or less from the start day of the hunt will not be refunded, unless the person canceling the hunt fills the vacancy, in which case a refund would be issued minus the $1,000 booking fee.

The balance of the hunt is due on the date of the departure into the field and that can paid with cash or cashiers check - no personal checks or credits cards.

Due to unforeseen spike in fuel prices, Alaska West Air has made the difficult decision to reserve the right to add a fuel surcharge to each seat during the 2024 season. 

Cancellation P olicy

If you cancel your trip 180 or more days prior to your departure date, you will receive a refund in the amount of your deposit less a 10% admin fee. If you cancel your trip 179 or less days prior to your departure date, there is no refund. If you do not show up on the day of your trip, payment in full is required.  If your trip is cancelled due to weather or a mechanical issue with our plane, and you cannot reschedule, you will receive a refund less a 10% admin fee.
