FISHING EXCURSION FAQ AND OTHER QUESTIONS ANSWERED

The team at Alaska West Air, Inc. knows you'll have questions about your fishing excursion. Below we've tried to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we receive. If your answer isn't here, don't hesitate to contact us for additional information. We're here to make your trip as good as it can be!

Licenses and gear

Can I buy a fishing / hunting license at Alaska West Air?

No, fishing licenses must be purchased online at https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/Store/. There are some larger retailers in the Kenai/Soldotna area that still offer them in store. Contact us if you have any questions regarding licenses.

Do I need hip boots/ chest waders?

On most of our trips you do need hip boots or chest waders. We always recommend that you use your own if you have them. We do have a limited number of pairs of hip boots to loan, but can’t guarantee the correct size will be available for everyone.

Do I need to bring fishing gear?

Our guides provide spinning gear with tackle appropriate to the fishery, and bait where allowed. If you are a fly fisher, let us know ahead of time and we will suggest some flies, and the guide will have a few flies available also.
