Our years of experience flying Alaska's backcountry enable us to provide you with the edge you need to bag your Alaska big game trophy. We have pioneered the use of float equipped Super Cub aircraft to hunt areas with very little or no hunting pressure. Our fly in hunting and fishing adventures have been written up in publications like "The Hunting Report," "Western Outdoors," and "Sports Afield" magazines.

 
         
               
 

Moose Hunts:
Unit 16B: This is a new area open to non-residents, and you will also have a chance at a black bear! Weight Limit: 75lbs pp plus gun. 

Resident = $1,750.00pp plus $300 per moose flown from the field

Non-Resident = $2,500pp plus $300 per moose flown from the field

Unit 17B, 19B, or 9B:The Ultimate Trophy Moose Hunt”! This hunt has our highest success rate for trophy moose. This is a one camp hunt, although many times hunters bag multiple species in one area: moose, caribou, and black bear. 7 day hunt recommended; party of 2 or more. Weight Limit: 75lbs pp plus gun. 

Resident and Non-Resident = $5,500.00pp

 

Black Bear Hunts: Spring or Fall
The price of this hunt will vary depending on the area in which you hunt. 3 bear limit in most areas, call or email us for more information.

Float Hunts: Moose, Caribou, Black Bear
We will fly you into the headwaters of Alaska’s most productive country, allowing you to cover miles of remote wilderness at your own pace. Raft, oars, and life vests are provided. 8-10 days recommended, 10 days of rafting included, add $100.00 per day for any days over 10; party of 2 or more.

Super Cub Float Hunts: Moose, Caribou, Black Bear
On this hunt we fly via Super Cub to the most remote and out of reach areas, floating tributary streams in big moose country with little or no other hunting pressure. 8-10 days recommended, 10 days of rafting included, add $75.00 per day for any days over 10; party of 2 or more.

Super Cub Caribou Hunt:
This is a one camp hunt with the addition of a shuttle via tundra-tire Super Cub aircraft. This allows us to place hunters in areas otherwise inaccessible by float planes. Excellent success rate! 5 day hunt recommended; party of 2 or more.

Kodiak Island Caribou/Sitka Blacktail Combo Hunt:
This is a great hunt on Kodiak Island. There is a resident herd of caribou, and a large population of Sitka Blacktail deer on the island. The season opens at the beginning of August and goes through the end of December. This hunt allows for 1 caribou and 2 deer per hunter. 5 day hunt recommended; party of 2 or more.

Brown/Grizzly Bear, Sheep and Goat Hunts, Kodiak Blacktail Deer:
Prices will vary on these hunts depending on unit location and air time. Alaska West Air maintains a permanent base camp in the hunting region which enables us to provide periodic checks on your hunting party and its progress, weather permitting. We find this to be a good safety measure and is a service rarely provided by other Alaskan air taxi services.

Duck Hunting:
This entitles you to 2 nights stay at the AWA duck shack with pick-up and drop-off times at high tide on the 3rd day. 4 people maximum in the cabin, which includes boat and motor.

$1,800.00 for 1- 4 people

 

IMPORTANT:  Non-resident hunters are required to have a guide or be accompanied by an Alaskan relative over 19 years of age, within the second degree of kindred, when hunting goat, Dall Sheep or Grizzly bear. Non-resident Moose and Caribou hunters are also required to view videos titled “Field Care of Big Game” and “Is This Moose Legal”, for hunts in some units in Alaska.  We do drop hunts in these units.  The video is available from Alaska Department of Fish and Game.  If you have booked a Moose or Caribou hunt, please view the video.


Booking / Cancellation Policy:  A 50% deposit is required to confirm a booking.  The balance is due before you go into the field.
Alaska West Air does not accept credit cards for hunts
.  
Hunts cancelled 90 days or more from the start date will be refunded the amount of the deposit less a 10% fee, unless the person canceling the hunt fills the vacancy.  In that case a 100% refund of the deposit would be made.   Hunts cancelled 89 days or less from the start day of the hunt will not be refunded, unless the person canceling the hunt fills the vacancy, in which case a 100% refund of deposit would be made.
